How about calling the stand alone tool – Codus Operandi

Hmm Interesting…

At the moment we are toying with the idea of Renaming the hosted version to “Code Spaces HE” (Hosted Edition) or “Code Spaces On Demand” and calling the new stand alone version plain old “Code Spaces”.

Dull! i know but thats what we have so far ;-)

Bounce, bounce everywhere … not a mail to go through.

I came over here from JoS, where I post from time-to-time. Signed up for a trial account, the email that came to me was from users [at] your domain. Replying to it fails. I tried the web form (contact), and it also bounces as a user unknown. webmaster [at] your domain also fails.

Hard to get in touch with you guys!

We’d love to try your beta—is it Windows only?

FYI—a “Code Spaces” and “Code Spaces Online” or “OnDemand” or “Hosted Edition” or “Global Edition” would be fine.

I don’t understand why your mails are bouncing as we get mail to the users alias and from the contact us form every day!!!!

The first Beta will be windows only however we may include Linux and OSX support as it is after all a Rails application ;-)

Thanks for your comments about the name.

I will check our Server logs to see why your mails a being bounced, but please feel free to send my mails directly to f[DOT]price[AT]Code[DOT]com.

Hi,

The email server software was upgraded and it appears that all the addresses didn’t make it. Sorry about this, All the email addresses should now work.

I’m using my 45-day trial account right now. So far, it’s great, but I’m confused about this beta testing being Windows-only? This site has a very “built by Mac users” feel to it, and the screenshots are done on a Mac. Confused…

Hi Ted,

The beta that i refered to is the Stand alone edition (the version of Code Spaces that you can install on your own server) not the hosted edition that you are currently using.

You are of course right about Code Spaces being built on a Mac as we all use use OS X here for development, the reason we chose Windows for our beta is because it is very easy to package up an installer and uninstaller for windows and we didn’t want to have to deal with Linux and MAC OS X install issues in the early beta phases.

I hope this clears up the confusion? If not please feel free to send me a mail with any questions you might have.

I hope you guys blog about source code protection and making installers for Rails apps. That would be an interesting read =].

Actually we are planning to do exactly that ;-)

We have modified the Ruby interpreter to support encrypting ruby source files to protect rails source from prying eyes.

We have also got a One Click installer that our good friends at http://www.Arctus.co.uk have written for us.

We will be writing articles about both these topic soon ;-
